Pain and Suffering

It is difficult to understand the when and why of pain and suffering.  Sometimes it seems as if God views us like little ants to be squished with no thought of our pain and suffering, until we remember that he experienced excruciating pain and suffering on the cross.  The cross was just as much a message to us that he understands our helplessness when we face anything that causes us pain or suffering as it was a message about salvation.  In a way, He could not have come to earth, had an easy time of it, and left us without letting us know he truly understands this most difficult time in our lives. Whether something so elementery as a toothache that has us pasing the floors for 3 days, or something so critical as a precious baby whose heart needs repair, or a loved one whose cancer has run it's life sqelching course.  God sees and Cares.
For all of His caring, it is so difficult to accept that He cares when he will not take the suffering away.  When God says no, it is hard to not feel deserted.  Hard to tell oneself, I know God is in control.
Yet no matter how hard, it is in the pain and suffering, we often find that people speak out about the God they are holding on to with the greatest faith of their lives.  Hiding away in the only place that help and strength, and courage can be found. I think of Job, who when people around him said "just curse God and get it over with...." (Paraphrase).  He didn't.

I have seen a lot of it this year.  People who are close to me are in pain and suffering. Or they have just come through it.  A number of people close to me are trying to sort their way out of it's lingering effects.  One or two have only just begun their journey, and wish they could find a place of rest.

I don't have a word or verse that will take their pain away.  I can only pray that God will give them exactly what they need moment by moment, and that He will be closer than any other time in their lives, and will give them Grace and Strength, to take each day moment by moment, until their time of pain and suffering has past.

Please Lord...For anyone whose place of pain or suffering looms larger than they can bear, or even stands before them as the door they would rather not go through, take their hand, pick them up, fill their thoughts, bring healing where you will, give relief and grant them peace.  In Jesus Precious Name. AMEN

Please visit the following blog about my neighbor's grandbaby, Samara, who is in need of heart surgery, and pray for her and her family.  Leave them a note of encouragement. (ck the side bar to be able to go there in future with ease. Thanks.)
